China has 56 ethnic groups. Han is the majority group, while the others are all considered minorities. Each group has its own culture, hence its unique music and dance patterns. “A Girl with The Fan” is a Han folk dance. Fan dance is a traditional Chinese dance and very popular in country area of northeast of China. This dance expresses the dancer’s love to her hometown and the appreciation to her happy life. In this dance, the fan is a symbol which represents her hometown.
